Overview

AMF Institute String Program is an intensive four-week program designed for serious string students. The program engages students through a combination of lessons, master classes, and performances.

Program Highlights

  • Weekly lessons, seminars, and coached rehearsals with AMF Institute string faculty
  • Solo performance opportunities throughout the season
  • Take part in chamber music groups coached by AMF Institute faculty members
  • Workshops and master classes designed for string players

In addition to weekly lessons with AMF String Program faculty members, participants engage throughout the week in coachings and seminars.

String Program students and fellows are featured in scheduled concerts. In addition, participants actively collaborate with AMF musicians, composers, and vocalists throughout the season.

Chamber music is an important part of the String Program. Participants are assigned to chamber music groups throughout the season with the goal of staging a live performance. AMF Institute faculty members provide coaching and often take part in the chamber groups themselves.

In addition to classes and seminars available to all AMF participants throughout the festival season, String Program students and fellows participate in workshops on musicianship, technique, repertory, practicing, and audition/competition preparation specifically designed for serious string players.
