Curtain to Rise on Atlantic Music Festival's Third Season

One needs no more excuse to visit the idyllic Maine than the news that the Atlantic Music Festival will return this summer to the campus of Colby College from July 11 to August 5.

For its exciting third season, the Atlantic Music Festival will once again feature internationally recognized artists as well as rising stars from all over the world to partake in a world-class musical experience. Showcasing a variety of timeless classical masterpieces, ranging from the Baroque era to the present with iconoclastic new works by today’s composers, the Festival will continue the tradition set forth in 2009 and 2010, presenting dynamic orchestral and chamber concert series, all completely free of charge, as a gift to the community.

The Festival is especially proud to announce that Jonathan Schiffman, an imaginative and charismatic conductor who has been active in the international stage will make his AMF Orchestra debut at AMF's inaugural concert. Schiffman will be conducting a total of four orchestral concerts this season, filled with unique and compelling program material sure to inspire audiences. The Orchestra, led by internationally renowned concert master Dennis Kim, is comprised of resident artists chosen through rigorous international audition process with all members receiving fellowship this summer.

Mark your calendars for AMF’s Inaugural Concert, taking place on July 16 at 7 PM at the Lorimer Chapel, Colby College. Repertoire will include the Romanian Folk Dances by Béla Bartók, the Violin Concerto in E minor by Mendelssohn, featuring soloist Eunice Keem, and Schubert’s 5th symphony.

In addition to our orchestral concerts, the Atlantic Music Festival will feature a number of chamber concerts each week, including the all new Salon Concert Series, as well as additional concerts from the AMF Institute Programs.

Visitors are encouraged to make ticket reservations in advance at AMF’s website.
